Summer Dragons 2017 was great! Since all of the actors had been to camp before, we burned through the script surprisingly quickly. We finished 10 scenes of blocking on the first day, and by day three, we had fully blocked the entire show! The actors worked their tails off and still had time for fun and games, including dodgeball, swimming, and card games at camp. Check out the recording of the play under the Performance Videos tab, and here’s one of our cast pictures:
See you all in September!

Summer Dragons is approaching once again! This year, we will be performing an original parody called Out in the Woods.
For those of you who don’t know, Summer Dragons is where a group of students (and myself) come together for a week to cast, block, memorize lines, and perform a play. That may seem like a lot of work, but it’s so much fun! If you know anyone who is interested in Summer Dragons 2017, get them in touch with me! The dates are July 9 – 16, with shows on the 14th and 15th at 7:00pm. The age limit is 13+ (though I have been known to make exceptions). We have a meeting on June 29 at 7020 35th St W, University Place at 1:00pm.
Hope to see you there!

After two strenuous tech days and a long pick-up rehearsal on Friday, Cinderella (Stage Centaurs) and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (Drama Dragons) were stunning! Despite a few mistakes that couldn’t be helped, both shows ran fairly smoothly.

Up next on our agenda is camp! We’re really excited to perform an original script called Out in the Woods at Thousand Trails Campground in Chehalis. For those of you who don’t know, Summer Dragons is where we take a script, cast, block, and memorize our lines in a week, performing two shows at the end. This year, our shows are July 14 & 15 at 7:30pm. Participation is age 13+, invitation only. However, if you know anyone who is interested in this camp get them in touch with Hally Phillips. She’ll make it work.
Advertise, advertise, advertise! That’s what we need to do right now! The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Cinderella are coming up soon. We need to sell those tickets and get an audience! Here’s a picture of the flier, with all the information:
Also, here are some pictures of what we’ve been doing in the Drama Dragons for the past few weeks:
Hope to see you at the show!

As a class field trip this past Friday, the Drama Dragons went to see Beauty and the Beast, honoring their performance of this same play last spring. Though we were sadly missing a couple actors, it was a great movie and a great time.
In addition, the details of the performance have been hashed out. It is a joint production of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (Drama Dragons) and Cinderella (Stage Centaurs), consecutively. The details are as follows:
Puget Sound Christian Center, 4020 S. 56th St., Tacoma, WA 98409
June 9, 2017 – 7:30pm
June 10, 2017 – 7:00pm
Tickets are $5.00 at pre-sale, and $7.00 at the door. These can be purchased from the actors.
For those of you who would like to advertise, here is a PDF of some fliers we’ve devised: Tom Sawyer Fliers. You can print them out and use them as you wish (also, you might have to wait a minute or so for them to load, depending on your device).
We hope to see you there!
The Drama Dragons have continued their blocking over the past few weeks, and here are some pictures:
In addition, Performing Pixies is in need of more students! If you know anyone with children from the ages of 5-10, please come try out a class! If you’re not sure you can commit to a full month, don’t stress about paying for the full month. If you can only make it to a couple classes a month, the cost is $15 per. Here are some pictures of our rainbow fish adventures and us creating characters with hats:
At the Performing Pixies’ first class last Friday, we read a short story dramatically and then acted it out from memory. Following that, we played a great game called Whoosh. It was very fun to see everybody get into the game and play together. Afterward, we did a small craft project and made little hedgehogs. The hedgehogs were quite interesting and showed each person’s special brand of creativity. I had a good time and I hope everybody else is also looking forward to the next class.
