Pantomime, Monologues, and Improv, Oh My!

As you may know, Drama Dragons classes have been going strong since the beginning of September!

We have two classes running currently, both on Thursday.  The first starts at 3:00pm, and in this class, we’ve been discussing what it means to be an actor and exploring a variety of theatrical techniques such as pantomime, enunciation, and characterization.

In the later class, starting at 6:30pm, we’ve split the class into two sections.  During the first half, we spend time playing improv games and strengthening our improv and teamwork.  For the second half, the students have each selected a monologue to practice and present to the class, as if they were auditioning for a role in a real show.  The goal of this monologue/audition workshop is to prepare our older students to step into the world of “real theatre,” where getting cast in shows hinges upon those 60 seconds in front of the audition panel.  At the end of the semester, they will get the opportunity to present one of two monologues before a faux panel, to practice auditioning for a “real show.”

We’ve been posting lots of pictures on our Instagram (@dramadragonsoffical) and Facebook (, so go check those out, too!
