For the past five weeks, the Drama Dragons have been working hard on a unique Christmas production. Instead of doing an actual show, we decided to present a radio-play-style reading of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” The students were able to practice vocal acting, using dialects, and foley work. For those of you who don’t know, “foley work” is the process of creating sound effects live. We had all sorts of fun with coconuts for the clopping of horse hooves, jingling chains for the Ghost of Marley, and our best replication of Big Ben.
Today, we presented our radio play to the residents at a local retirement community. All of the Dragons, old and new, did an incredible job performing this different style of show than we have produced before. Here is our cast picture:
From right to left: Hally, Kyndriana, Bethany, Gabriel, Nina, Emmalyssa, Seanan, Jillian, Caleb, Katryna, Jacob, Juliana, John, Gabrielle, and Tom (our wonderful pianist).
A video of the reading will be posted in the Performance Videos section of the website soon, so stay tuned for that!
Happy Holidays, Drama Dragons family, and we’ll see you next year!
